Training For Dogs

Our variety of 6-week courses cover a range of options from Basic Good Manners to Agility to the Prep Course for certifying your dog as a Canine Good Citizen. We teach you how to teach your dog in a way that they understand. Our Advanced course is for instructors with at least one year’s experience of teaching classes. How it works After you sign up for a Handler’s Choice Training Session, you will be asked to submit up to 2 skills that you would like to work on with your dog. Skills can be related to manners, tricks, Canine Good Citizen or therapy dog preparation. This is a great opportunity for dogs who are not quite ready for the structure and demands of a typical class format.

This is a unique program for puppies, consisting of a comprehensive Puppy Program that takes your puppy through 3 levels of interactive classes to give them a strong foundation. We strongly encourage those enrolling in this program commit to successfully completing each level of the program. When a dog engages in these kinds of behaviors, it means they’re not in a good state of mind.

How To Train A Dog To Sit

Your dog just needs to be comfortable around other animals, without showing any signs of aggression or anxiety. If your dog doesn’t get this kind of exposure, there’s a chance that they’ll react aggressively when they run into another animal. Mind Your Manners

If you have already had some type of formal training with your dog, you may be ready for our Adult Level 2 class. Our Puppy Level classes are based on the age of your puppy. We've helped more than 1 million families with our positive training methods and recommendations.

However, if you’re training your dog to be a loving pet, you should consider reward-based obedience training. This method doesn’t develop fear-based responses in your dog. Without the right training, your dog will struggle to integrate with your friends and family, as well as other dogs. This is why we're all about reward-based positive training that not only reinforces good behavior but also strengthens your pet’s total well-being. This 45-minute private lesson is tailored to understand the training needs of your pet, help you with common behaviors & create a customized training plan. Our classes are designed for all ages and breeds, allowing you to customize a curriculum led by our certified trainers and AKC evaluators. Instinctive learning is when your dog learns the behaviors they were bred.

It's also great to have goals when going through training. In addition, certifications are needed if you want your dog to visit hospitals and other facilities, as a therapy dog. This course helps dogs overcome their leash reactivity. It is a very small class size and uses visual barriers to help the dogs adjust to each other. The class is invaluable for helping dogs increase their tolerance of others. Please note that this class is for dogs who are reactive towards other dogs, but not towards humans.

Socialized dogs are less likely to develop behavior problems and are generally more welcomed by others. Socialization can also help prevent the development of fears and phobias. Most people believe that puppy class is about teaching their dog to sit and stay. Check out Boxer Cam during his manners training session. A virtual course open to anyone welcoming a new puppy (8 weeks to 6-months-old) to their family. Critical for all new puppies and owners, especially to introduce proper socialisation and basic manners. Both in person and online private lessons are currently available. About Dog Training

$175 includes a 90 minute behavior consultation and the creation of a personalized training plan. After the initial session, single or 3-pack lessons are available for purchase through your trainer. ARL is now offering 1.5-hour private lesson at our Boston and Dedham location.

Private Lessons

We will provide you with a report detailing what our certified professional dog trainers worked on with your dog and what you can do at home to continue progress. Clients may choose to enroll their dog for more than one 4-week block. Some may choose to utilize our private training services to help make sure the skills instilled during camp successfully transfer to the home environment. GoodPup is a wonderful training resource that allows your pet to train in the environment they are most comfortable with—your home!

Most dogs can excel at these classes, even to the surprise of their owners. Now that your dog knows the basics, it's time to make all of the exercises much more challenging. We add the three D's plus introduce some new commands in order help your dog build and keep its focus. The goal continues to be for your dog to do what you say the first time, without repeating yourself.
